The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program is a federally funded program in which the family pays no less than 30% of their monthly-adjusted income but no more than 40% of their monthly-adjusted income.

Currently, the Greenburgh Housing Authority's Section 8 HCV Program has 303 vouchers, of which we have 42% of the units occupied by elderly/disabled. Our payment standard is set at 110% over the Fair Market Rent (FMR) so the families in Greenburgh could have a broader range of apartments.

Although our jurisdiction covers a fairly large territory, the families on the Section 8 HVC Program, have the ability to go on Portability (move to any place in the U.S. territory, which is all the states including Alaska, Hawaii, Puertos Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We have over 850 families on our waiting list and until further notice our waiting list is closed.
