GHA Recreational Program
The Housing Authority runs a recreation program for the children of families that reside both in the state and scattered sites. Children, ages five and up, may participate in organized games and activities after school each day between the hours of 3:00pm-7:00pm. The recreational program helps with homework and studying. GHA also sponsors activities and field trips throughout the year including an annual Halloween party, back to school backpack giveaway, and an annual Christmas party with toys giveaway. The Recreational Program runs throughout the summer as an afternoon program since many children attends the youth center nearby.
Backpack Program: Each September, our Recreation Program along with Christ Temple Church kicks of the upcoming school year with their annual backpack program. Students are provided with backpacks full of the school supplies needed to ensure they have a successful school year.
Annual Christmas Party and Toy Giveaway: A joyous celebration for the children of GHA and Greenburgh Heights. The annual Christmas Party is filled with fun and games, with the highlight being the annual toy giveaway for each child.
Sr. Luncheon: It is a catered Thanksgiving luncheon with the food prepared by other residents for our senior population. Music and a guest speaker make the afternoon an uplifting experience for our seniors.
Additional programs and future events may include programs geared specifically towards single-parents, seniors, substance abusers, or victims of domestic violence, among other things.
